Fantasy Literature 2

Title: Sea of Monsters (Book Two in the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series)
Author: Rick Riordan
Publisher: Disney Hyperion
Copyright: 2006
Recommended Grade Level: 6th through 9th

Summary:
A game of dodgeball ruins Percy Jackson's seventh grade year at another boarding school.  The magical borders at Camp Half-Blood (the only safe place on Earth for demigods) are growing weaker and demigods are becoming easy death targets, so, along with Annabeth, Percy sets out to find his other friend, Grover, and the Golden Fleece, a weapon that will strengthen the magical borders at CHB.  Along the journey, Percy discovers more familial secrets and questions the honor of being the son of a god.

Again, this is a fun series and a great companion novel to a Greek/Roman mythology unit.  Riordan continues to use witty humor and his knowledge of mythology in interesting ways.  I will continue to read the series.  In fact, The Titan's Curse is on my nightstand!
