I had heard about this series several times from various friends, but it was not until the previews for the upcoming movie version began to roll did I actually pick up a copy. I really enjoyed the first book and have already read the second book. It is not as good as the Harry Potter series, but it is an exciting little read.

This would be a great companion novel to use during a Greek/Roman mythology unit. Riordan really knows the mythology behind all of the gods and he has perfectly captured their personalities. I think boys would like this series as well. Riordan uses a lot of action sequences and sarcastic humor.
